The bull shark (Carcharhinus Leucas) season is in winter when the water temperature cools down a bit. Depending on the year, this may vary since it is a wild animal in its natural state. The encounter is not guaranteed, although they usually meet 90% of the time.

The sharks we observed are females, many of them pregnant. They are admirable animals underwater and properly conducted diving is completely safe. At the beginning, a good dose of adrenaline will give way to a feeling of admiration and privilege of being able to observe this animal in its natural environment.

We do observation dives (not feeding), the dive site is 85 ft deep. Advanced certification or deep diving experience is required.

Price 155 USD. Hours vary depending on the day.

What is included:

  • 1 shark point dive and 1 reef dive.
  • Tanks and weights.
  • Certified guide.
  • Water.
  • Equipment rental not included: 5 USD per piece or 20 USD full equipment per day.

During this season, hundreds of sharks congregate in the north of the Yucatan Peninsula where there is a high presence of plankton to feed. The whale shark is the largest fish in the world and is a gentle, harmless animal. It feeds on plankton and small fish, which it filters into its huge toothless mouth.

The boat trip lasts between 1 hour and 1 hour and a half in boats with a maximum capacity of 10 people. We remain in the sighting area for 2-3 hours. During this time you will have the opportunity to make a maximum of 2 jumps into the water with the shark swimming close to it.

The activity consists of swimming with the shark that is on the surface feeding by filtering water. There is no diving and it is suitable for everyone. The minimum age is 6 years old, consider the boat ride and that you must know how to swim to decide if the children are ready for this activity. This activity is not suitable for pregnant women due to the boat ride.

On the way back we stop in front of Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres for refreshments and return to the marina in Cancun.
